October 28, 2008  -  News

many of you that read this blog have probably already heard about the nielsons accident back in august 2008 so i won't go into detail about it. i heard about the effort that was taking place to help this little family a while ago and then got a call from a friend who asked if i would be interested in helping out with a benefit concert last saturday featuring mindy gledhill.

please understand this post isn't for me to claim that i am any sort of a humanitarian or that i have done anything to help this family in their need. spending a few hours around people who care about them made it apparent that there are many who have dedicated so much to their cause. all i did was coordinate a few shooters for the concert. many thanks to casey trejo and jared foster for their help shooting this one - as well as richard talbot for being so helpful on the sound side of things (we got such a clean feed from him after about 30 requests from me).

the following is a short segment from the concert featuring claire and jane nielson singing a very touching song with mindy. my daughter just sits and stares and listens to this over and over. amazing family. great concert.

frost ortho

October 16, 2008  -  News

earlier this year i got the call again from the infamously talented atj (allison tyler jones) to come on a sort of lifestyle shoot she was putting on for rene frost over at frost ortho. the whole thing went down at santan mall in gilbert, and was a blast to shoot (other than when lamo employees at apple gave us the boot! - seriously - do they not understand free product placement!).

the video below is a short segment from the piece i produced for the frost's super insanely nice new office in mesa on val vista and southern. you should seriously drop by for a visit and watch the video on their 6 42in plasmas! i'm going to see if they are hiring because that is basically the type of work environment i've been digging for my whole life. . .

and i have to give props to my sister devon for the music choice . . . i wanted to do something different with this one and it had to start with using a tune that i wasn't familiar with. i think the song is in french . . . . and i think it says magna booty (or some french that sounds like its saying that) in there somewhere - which had my son rolling on the ground laughing because he thought i was talking about his booty. that was a random side track. enjoi the video.

post production

October 9, 2008  -  Personal

two weeks ago i flew up to utah to do an online edit at metropolis post in slc. i have never been through the online process on one of my own projects so it was very cool to see things come together on a project that continues to be a part of my every day. and as a super bonus on the trip we ate a stellar italian sandwich for lunch and listened to mark mabry in a dolby surround session for 4 hours - what else can you ask for?

the dvd is finally complete and deseret book has a trailer up online as well. i am excited to see how it does - as this piece has a completely different feel from other videos/films they have been a part of in the past (as far as i know).

tiff & scott introtastic

October 8, 2008  -  Weddings

i received the funniest email a few months back after i posted one of my intro edits on the blog. this individual who refused to share her name said she thought i was "totally killing my business" by posting these "intro video thingy's" on my site. reason - "none of the shots hold still long enough for me to see the bride or grooms face!". i had to laugh when i read that because really these cuts were never designed to show the bride and grooms faces (although they sometimes make an appearance!). it's more about the fun little details that brides put sooooo much time into when they prepare for their weddings. plus it is a 40 second empty canvas i get to create on - completely driven by the mood of the cuts that never made it to the actual final film . . . . or driven by my mood that day. either way.

its all about the details. enjoi.
