up and running

January 19, 2008  -  Personal

the photos - music - and documentary went live at the visitors center on thursday night. i can only recommend that you go and experience it for yourself and take as many of your friends as you can possibly round up - regardless of religious preference. it is an art gallery experience like none other.

the following is an extended cut of the angels scene from the documentary - highlighting mark mabry's angels shot from the reflections of Christ project.

almost there

January 15, 2008  -  Personal

two more days until the Reflections of Christ project opens at the visitors center in mesa arizona. we screened the video with mark and the powers that be on the big screen yesterday and received some great feedback.

there is nothing quite like screening an edit in front of a few critical eyes on a 100+ft screen. every single flaw seems to just jump off the screen and you can almost feel when things are going well or when they aren't being understood or well received. it was a little unnerving at times to say the very least.

here is a screenshot of the edit . . .with a sneak peek of one of my favorite images that will be on display.

rocky point

January 9, 2008  -  Personal

i just returned from a fun filled shooting trip down south of the border for the Reflections Site project that i am shooting a full feature documentary for. this project started as something somewhat big and has quickly (over the past three months) snowballed into an amazingly complex and meaningful thing. i have had the chance to shoot in some amazing locations with some amazingly talented individuals. the display opens next week at the mesa arizona temple visitors center and believe me when i say that it will not disappoint in any way shape or form. Mark Mabry has created some jaw dropping - inspiring images. the effort put behind each shot both physically and spiritually is something to be admired. i only hope that my work can help portray that to those who visit the exhibit.

yesterday i shot my last four hours of footage for the documentary. it was a long drive that went by so very fast. we had a great crew - an amazing location - and an amazing shoot. here are some photos from the trip.

on the way down to rocky point mark noticed that the fog from monday's rain had settled on the desert floor . . . . so we jumped to the other side of the road and jumped out to shoot . . .

me, sam, and boyd rolling to rocky point.

when we arrived in rocky point boyd showed his true colors cruising the civic in the wet sand. it was sketchy but big boyd held it down - even jumping the burm at one point.

the cast and crew of the reflections rocky point shoot hammering down on some mexican food. not a drop of water on that table. who drinks water down in mexico?

we plan on sending this in to coke - boyd will probably be cokes next poster boy after they see this burley shot. only a guy with that look can pop the top off a bottle with his teeth.

an finally here is a short timelapse video shot again on my 20d. mark razzes me all the time for doing these. figures that this time around i get some stellar footage but fail to recognize the giant hair on my lens. either way it was an amazing sunset.

shooting - traveling - and hanging with friends. good good times.

lauren and zach's date video

January 4, 2008  -  Weddings

just returned from a crazy week of traveling and shooting. lots more on that to come.

in the meantime here is lauren and zach's date video. we shot out in the az desert and the footage turned out really really good. i even grabbed a shot of these two rolling their quad and just walking away like it was no big deal. that is what the date video is all about - i have zero control and just let the couple rule the show.

lauren and zach will be married next week here in mesa. enjoy.
